they are built on peter lukas's classically composed photographs, fused with a multitude of mechanical parts gathered from old machines.
the parts are mounted onto the photograph and become part of a new reality. they lose their original function and gain new narrative roles and meanings.
hybrid works have a dystopian aesthetic, the images possess a grotesque beauty that touches the senses, stimulates the mind, and creates emotions.

SERVUS PUBLICUS

helsevesenet er i en prosess av degenerasjon.
som kreftpasient har jeg vært mye på sykehus de siste 12 årene, og jeg ser prosessen tydelig hos sykepleierne.
den gode, menneskelige delen av omsorgen blir merkbart preget av tidspress og oppgaver som ikke handler om mellommenneskelig omsorg.
jeg vil sette fokus på dette i kunstprosjektet servus publicus.
en portrettserie med 12 fotografier, modifisert til hybridbilder, skal følbart synliggjøre konflikten mellom det organiske og det mekaniske, byråkratiske elementet i helsevesenet.
utstillingen skal være en vandreutstilling, og kan gjerne kombineres med andre relevante aktiviteter som foredrag o.l.
bildene vil ikke være til salgs under utstillingsperioden, slik at betrakteren skal kunne ta inn verkene uten distraksjoner..

TRANSFORMASJON

transformasjon er en serie med håndbroderte fotografier som har blitt til gjennom et samarbeid mellom peter lukas og erlend helling larsen.
peter lukas fotograferer transpersoner på deres egne primisser, uten noe forutinntatt mål om uttrykk eller budskap. modellene velger selv hvordan de ønsker å bli portrettert, og fotografen fanger et øyeblikk av deres fortelling gjennom klassisk fotografi i sort hvitt.
erlend helling larsen transformerer fotografiene ved bruk av broderi, som skaper et visuelt verk og tilfører bildene en ekstra dimensjon. resultatet er et uttrykk som berører sansene og stimulerer tankene.
utstillingen består av 12 fotografier med broderi. bildene vil ikke være til salgs enkeltvis under utstillingsperioden slik at betrakteren skal kunne ta inn verkene uten distraksjoner.

SYRIA 2011

borgerkrigen i syria startet med demonstrasjoner mot baath-regimet til bashar al-assad i mars 2011.
peter lukas var i syria i 2011 og reiste ut av landet rett før borgerkrigen brøt ut.
fotoserien han tok der er et unikt tidsbilde fra et syria i fred - de siste ukene før borgerkrigen brøt ut.
et tidsbilde av et land som nå er preget av krig.
i 2017 og 2018 ble fotografiene vist i flere kunstforeninger og universiteter i norge - støttet av bl.a. fritt ord og røde kors.

nå blir bildene til film, med musikk av saleh mahfoud og khaled habeeb.
filmen er en langsom, vakker reise gjennom syria i 2011 som viser hverdagslivet til menneskene i aleppo, damaskus og tartus.
fotografiene er mer dagsaktuelle enn noen gang. de viser et syria som ikke finnes lenger. et syria med hverdagsliv, kultur og lekenhet.
med musikken av saleh mahfoud og khaled habeeb blir filmen en utsøkt estetisk opplevelse.
